Meg Fletcher who started the Kinamba Project in Kigali Rwanda has recently been honoured for her work by receiving the Points of Light award.
The award is given to volunteers who go out of their way to make a real difference in the communities in which they serve.
The letter from the PM states
“Your dedication to improving education opportunities for young people and adults in Rwanda is truly remarkable. By drawing on your experience as a teacher, your inspirational work providing free schooling and skills training is helping to transform the lives of hundreds of people, many of whom have been affected by the abhorrent events of the genocide 25 years ago.
Volunteers like you from all over the UK are helping to make a better world for everyone. The Point of Light award is a small thank you, on behalf of the whole country, in recognition of your exceptional service.”
